Caitlin Bloomer, Ph.D.

Caitlin Bloomer, Ph.D., is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. Before this role, she was a postdoctoral research associate at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois. Her research specialized in astacology, ecology, biogeography, conservation biology, and applied management. Dr. Bloomer earned her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2023 and her bachelor of science degree. from the University of St. Andrews in 2018. She is actively involved with professional organizations like the International Association of Astacology and The Crustacean Society.
